The Jay Kennedy Scholarship Award for College Cartoonists

Calling all college cartoonists!

In memory of Jay Kennedy, the late King Features editor and a dear friend of Patrick's, the National Cartoonists Society Foundation awards annual scholarships to the best college cartoonists. (And Patrick is the artist for this year’s solicitation poster.)
Entries must be postmarked by February 12, 2010. Along with a completed entry form, applicants must submit 8 samples of their own cartooning artwork (copies only).

Application details and the downloadable entry form are available on the NCS site. Applicants must be college juniors or seniors in the 2010 academic year. Winners will attend the 2010 Reuben Awards Weekend and rub shoulders with many of the world’s leading cartoonists.

You do not need to be an art major to apply!

  4. I have spent the greater portion of my 80 years in this world searching for a funny Mutts comic; I have yet to find one.

  5. I see why the webmaster did not delete the above-mentioned comment regarding nearly 80 years of searching; it speaks for itself in terms of idiocy.

  6. From the first time I set eyes on Mutts I have loved them. They are so sweet and the drawings are just wonderful! Mutts are my kind of humor. And their reflexions over things! A day whitout the daily Mutts strip is unthinkabel. May they never stop coming!

  7. I look forward to MUTTS daily e-mail comic. I ESPECIALLY love the "Shelter Stories." If you have a feeling heart, you can't help buy shed some tears. All my pets are Rescues. Call them my MIS-FITS. Not what you think.

MIS-FIT = Pet that doesn't fit owner's standards! Bad litter box habits, doesn't get along with new Puppy or Kitten?? The hardest one for me is TOO OLD.....kick'em to the curb!!!

    Heartfelt thanks.....

  9. Just let me say the Mutts Comics, make me laugh out loud, make me go ahh, make me smile, make me feel inspired, and make me cry. I too own all of the books.

To the 80 year old, at least you are reading Mutts Comics, but I think you must lack a sense of humor to not have been able to find a cartoon that makes you laugh. I either laugh, cry or feel inspired, sometimes all three, every morning when I receive my daily cartoon.

Thank you Patrick and keep the wonderful cartoons coming!
